Plan a North Texas CDL visit from Amarillo
If you’re coming from Amarillo, Canyon, Dumas or Hereford, the costliest mistake can be arriving with a truck held for one date and a test scheduled for another. Match the two confirmations before you set a departure time.
Compare bringing equipment with renting
Does your operation have a qualifying vehicle, the required paperwork and someone available to bring it to the test site? If using it takes a working unit out of service, compare that cost with a rental, fuel and the time needed to travel. Ask about the actual brake system and transmission of the rental.
Leave time between arrival and testing
Check the business meeting point and the skills-test address independently. Give yourself room for weather, delays and rest on the trip from the Panhandle. Ask what changes if DPS moves the appointment or the equipment reservation needs to be moved.
Choose what to do before leaving home
Review the inspection vocabulary on the equipment you know and check which ELDT entries are still required. If the issue is adjusting to a different truck, ask about specific familiarization time. If the issue is learning to operate it safely, discuss a fuller training option first.
What drivers ask us
Can we reserve two trucks for two ranch employees on the same trip?
Give us both permit classes, both DPS appointments and the equipment each person needs. We can check whether the times work together and quote each reservation separately.
