Considering a North Texas CDL test trip from Houston?

A Houston driver with an employer’s truck available has a different decision from a driver who needs someone to supply the entire test combination. First find out whether the vehicle you use around Houston, Baytown or Pasadena can actually go to a skills test.

Compare a local test with a North Texas rental

Ask who can bring your employer’s truck, whether the trailer and paperwork can go with it, and what happens to the work schedule while it is away. For our option, compare the available vehicle, rental, fuel, lodging and missed work side by side. Use the DPS testing-site list for the driving appointment.

Match the job to the vehicle

For a port or freight job, ask about the tractor, trailer connection and transmission. A delivery job in a straight truck may call for a different class. If your goal is carrying passengers, we’ll check a bus arrangement separately. Tell us what the employer expects you to operate on the first day.

Get the test and travel details in writing

If you already have a Houston-area DPS booking, read us the exact site. We price and confirm availability for the specific site before offering a vehicle there. A North Texas visit requires its own meeting and test arrangements.

What drivers ask us

Can I use a truck I already reserved for a different DPS office?

Call before changing the appointment. The office, date, vehicle and trip charge have to be checked together. Changing one can affect the others.
