HazmatTexas Endorsement Practice Preparation

HazMat knowledge study requires careful reading of the facts in each question. Organize your review around the material being transported, the information a driver must recognize and the action called for in the situation.

Build understanding before repeating a practice attempt

Keep a short review sheet for unfamiliar terms and subject areas. After a missed question, return to the relevant handbook explanation and describe the rule in your own words. Recognizing a familiar answer is less useful than understanding why it applies.

Study the Texas CDL handbook

Review Section 9 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook. Use the handbook to understand the material before practicing questions.

Planned practice test format

30 questions per attempt

You must answer at least 24 of 30 correctly to score 80% or higher and pass the practice test.

180 questions in the current practice bank

Each new attempt selects 30 questions from this bank and shuffles the answer choices. Questions may repeat across attempts.

Practice in any order

Choose any topic with active access. Repeat this topic as often as you like during its 30-day access window, whether you pass or need more practice. Passing does not move you automatically to another topic.

Your Texas DPS practice readiness goal

Aim for 95% or higher four to five consecutive times on this topic. The practice tracker marks the goal complete after five consecutive qualifying attempts. A score below 95% resets this topic’s streak. An 80% score passes an attempt, but does not meet the 95% readiness goal. This is our practice benchmark and does not guarantee the official Texas DPS test result.

Account and topic access

$104 standard, or $100 with an eligible alternative payment, for 30 days of HazMat practice. Choose topics, add them to your cart, then register or sign in before payment. Each topic’s access window starts when its payment is confirmed.

Online registration and payment are being connected. You can save and review your selections; call (469) 332-7188 for help completing registration and payment.

Practice questions are one part of the HazMat process

The Texas HazMat endorsement process includes separate official requirements. Use our HazMat information page to locate the DPS guidance for application, applicable ELDT and TSA clearance. This practice purchase is not ELDT theory certification, a TSA assessment or a DPS examination.
