TankerTexas Endorsement Practice Preparation

Tank vehicle study puts special attention on how a load can move inside the tank. Review inspection, liquid movement and handling concepts as related decisions rather than isolated terms to memorize.

Connect liquid movement to the driving situation

For each question, identify the tank or load condition and the movement being described. Then explain why it changes the driver’s decision. Keep a short list of subjects you need to review again, such as surge, stopping or inspection.

Study the Texas CDL handbook

Review Section 8 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook. Use the handbook to understand the material before practicing questions.

Planned practice test format

20 questions per attempt

You must answer at least 16 of 20 correctly to score 80% or higher and pass the practice test.

120 questions in the current practice bank

Each new attempt selects 20 questions from this bank and shuffles the answer choices. Questions may repeat across attempts.

Practice in any order

Choose any topic with active access. Repeat this topic as often as you like during its 30-day access window, whether you pass or need more practice. Passing does not move you automatically to another topic.

Your Texas DPS practice readiness goal

Aim for 95% or higher four to five consecutive times on this topic. The practice tracker marks the goal complete after five consecutive qualifying attempts. A score below 95% resets this topic’s streak. An 80% score passes an attempt, but does not meet the 95% readiness goal. This is our practice benchmark and does not guarantee the official Texas DPS test result.

Account and topic access

$41.60 standard, or $40 with an eligible alternative payment, for 30 days of Tanker practice. Choose topics, add them to your cart, then register or sign in before payment. Each topic’s access window starts when its payment is confirmed.

Online registration and payment are being connected. You can save and review your selections; call (469) 332-7188 for help completing registration and payment.

Check whether your plan also involves hazardous materials

Tanker and HazMat are different knowledge subjects. If your intended work involves hazardous materials, review the separate HazMat path and the official requirements that apply. This practice page offers study support; it is not a reservation for tanker equipment.
