A CDL trip guide for Northwest Arkansas drivers
A delivery run around Bentonville may use a straight truck. A regional freight job out of Springdale may use a tractor and semitrailer. Whether you live in Fayetteville, Rogers or a smaller Ozarks community, get that equipment description before making a Texas travel plan.
Choose the job configuration first
Get the ratings for the truck and trailer, the coupling, transmission and brake equipment. If your employer runs both straight trucks and combinations, ask which one you need to qualify for now. We can then compare our Class A and Class B equipment for your plan.
Choose the state for the skills test
If you remain an Arkansas resident, Arkansas ordinarily issues your license. You can ask about Texas training with a return to Arkansas for testing. For a proposed Texas test after qualifying training here, get the Texas office’s acceptance of your Arkansas permit and confirm how Arkansas will receive the result.
Compare the entire visit with a home-state option
Include covered shifts, travel, lodging, the training or rental price and where a retest would take place. Tell us if you need to be back for a particular delivery run. We can give you confirmed equipment times to compare with the state appointment.
What drivers ask us
I drive a box truck in Rogers now. Should I reserve the tractor-trailer?
Only if the combination fits the license you are pursuing. Check your expected job equipment and permit class first. If you are upgrading from Class B, ask specifically about the B-to-A path.
Choose your next step
Tell us your Northwest Arkansas hometown and whether your next job is straight truck or combination work.
